I'm a wine geek. I'm almost as passionate about wine as I am music. The funny thing is, I used to say, I don't really like wine. Once I had my first taste of a good Pomerol, it was all over for me. Before then, I had only ever had inexpensive overly-ripe California wines. Ever since my first trip to Bordeaux wine country in 2006, I've become fascinated with wines from all over the world. While I believe any grape varietal in a good year, grown in a great terroir, and made into wine by a master winemaker will likely be great, I particularly love wines from: Bordeaux (Pomerol, Margaux, St Julien, St Estephe), Rioja, Chianti Classico, Valpolicella, Barolo, Brunello di Montalcino, Montefalco, Sicilian (Grillo & Enta), Cotes Du Rhone(Cornas, St Peray, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Chateauneuf du Pape), Ribera Del Duero, & Champagne wine countries. I've become a self-taught expert on these wine regions, and have visited most of them. I love going to wine tastings around NYC as well as enjoying wines with fabulous meals. One of my favorite things to do is to travel to another country, and really sink into its culture. I'm particularly interested in the food & wine in a particular place.
I've had so many unforgettable meals in many of the great cities and places of the world: Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Reims, Sevilla, Barcelona, Madrid, San Sebastian, Bilboa, Rome, Athens, Santorini, NYC, Boston, Philly, Washinton DC, Clevland, Omaha, Kansas City, Austin, Montreal, & Cape Cod. How about a recommendation?
I've traveled extensively in Bordeaux, Cotes Du Rhone, Champagne, Piedmont, Tuscany, Valpolicella, Rioja, Ribera del Duero wine regions. Planning travel around great wine visits and local restaurants has become a bit of obsession for me. Have a trip coming up? Want to take a different approach to travel around food and wine?
